With Robert D. Henry Architects as design architect and James Heimler, Architect, Inc. as executive architect, an existing retail space on the first floor of a four-story building in the heart of Beverly Hills was completely redesigned on both the interior and exterior. This new facility serves as Dr. Obagi's medical office and a spa and retails space offering an all-inclusive health and beauty experience.

The project involved a change of use from office to medical/retail space along with a parking lot revision. We researched the history of parking issues tied to the 5-Story office building and discovered the original building and lot, developed in 1950, included parking allotments in a parking lot across the street. The need for a multi-level parking structure was omitted in favor of site parking revisions including the allotments across the street. We then worked side by side with the owner's designer to remodel the entire 1st floor and basement, which totaled 15,000 S.F. Accessibility issues, set circulation and basic floor plan due to sloping site conditions.

Obagi's interior medical/spa/corporate office with integrated retail areas was a very high end design. We had fully developed conference rooms, tenant rooms, fountains, reception areas, dual entry and exits, and all supporting spaces. We continually needed to work hand in hand with the general contractor during construction to keep inspections from requiring upgrades to the rest of our client's 5-Story building.
