Markus Aurelius – Meditations

Markus Aurelius – Meditations

I keep reading the Humanities books interspersed with all other type books. This helps me slow down. It helps me understand societal patterns and the individuals who make up our cultures.

I am including my interpretation on a few of the Markus Aurelius - Meditation statements overlapped with my thoughts.

Atlas Shrugged

Atlas Shrugged

Most architects have read Fountainhead by Ayn Rand. That was the forerunner to Atlas Shrugged.

I have picked out some of the themes going on in the book. I do not believe in the way high society plays out in America. So, the author and I do have differences in thought and Value. However, those who think, produce, maintain our American and World ways do support the activities of human kind. They do deserve fair and just compensation. Each one of us need to decide what that effort is worth.

Strike Force Architecture

Strike Force Architecture

Over the last 40 plus years working as an architect, my team and I feel as if we are Soldiers. A knight of the round table puts on armor with lance and heads into the fray. They would follow their leader’s direction to reach the King’s goals. In current times the Navy Seals or army Rangers do the same thing.

Homeless Housing Concept

Homeless Housing Concept

The concept of homeless, transitional, or refugee housing is not an easy one. Those who grew up in or worked in a community deserves support at least at a minimum level, these should be rights. If someone has come from another community then maybe there could be a different approach of federal $s to cover those expenses. It is our concept anyone looking to get free housing needs to put in some sweat equity like with Habitat for Humanity.

Mies van der Rohe on the Building Art - The Artless World

Mies van der Rohe on the Building Art - The Artless World

This is a very detailed book about this architects views on the new age of modernism. As a teacher, architects, and visionary he was developing his theories as he went, like the rest of us, but with intense thought as his country, Germany, was coming to a major change, the Nazis.
